Stuart Butler

Stuart was allegedly ‘the first baby to be born at home in a pre-fab in Swindon’. Educated at Pinehurst, Headlands, UCL, and York University, he is still a keen supporter of Swindon Town, even though he has now lived in Stroud for nearly forty years. Teacher, walker, radical historian, poet, and writer, Stuart believes that History should rescue the poor and anonymous from ‘the enormous condescension of posterity’ by challenging official ‘Heritage’ with a ‘Counter-Heritage’ that remembers and celebrates the lives of ordinary people, rather than the great and the good. To that end, he takes history and literature into the field and street to ‘slip down wormholes of time’. A flavour of this approach can be seen at www.radicalstroud.co.uk But we hope you will enjoy slipping down some wormholes of time on this website.

Keith Butler

Keith, born March 27th 1946. Educated at Pinehurst Infants and Junior Schools; Headlands Grammar School. He mis spent his youth in Swindon before discovering computing where he worked on some of the earliest commercial computers and wandered the UK. After retirement he discovered Bridge and plays a reasonable game and teaches bridge too. Writes for his own enjoyment but hopes that you will also enjoy these pieces. We hope you will enjoy slipping down some wormholes of time on this website.

About Us

Image placeholder

Stuart and Keith started working together during the Corona virus lockdown. Working remotely (Stuart in Stroud, Keith in Cardiff) they shared ideas and produced a play and video "One Caribou or Four Ravens". They continued working together to produce this celebration of pubs, places, past times and poetry.
