Stuart was allegedly ‘the first baby to be born at home in a pre-fab in Swindon’. Educated at Pinehurst, Headlands, UCL, and York University, he is still a keen supporter of Swindon Town, even though he has now lived in Stroud for nearly forty years.
Teacher, walker, radical historian, poet, and writer, Stuart believes that History should rescue the poor and anonymous from ‘the enormous condescension of posterity’ by challenging official ‘Heritage’ with a ‘Counter-Heritage’ that remembers and celebrates the lives of ordinary people, rather than the great and the good. To that end, he takes history and literature into the field and street to ‘slip down wormholes of time’. A flavour of this approach can be seen at www.radicalstroud.co.uk But we hope you will enjoy slipping down some wormholes of time on this website.
